Theatro Named an IDC Innovator for Wearable Software Solutions

DALLAS – Oct. 2, 2018 – Theatro, pioneers of the world’s first voice-controlled mobile app platform for the hourly workforce, today announced that it has been named an IDC Innovator in recognition of its voice-controlled mobile app platform in IDC’s latest report, “IDC Innovators: Wearable Software Solutions, 2018.” IDC Innovators are vendors that offer an innovative new technology or ground-breaking approach to an existing issue.

“The companies in this report recognize that wearables can play an important part to keep workers’ hands free to complete tasks, yet also communicate information back and forth,” said Ramon T. Lamas, research director for IDC’s Mobile Devices team, in a press release. “In addition, these companies also introduce wearable workflows, enabling workers to communicate that tasks have been completed and are ready for the next stage. The end result: companies can save money, time, and better serve their customers.”

Theatro provides an enterprise voice-controlled mobile app platform that allows retail stores to empower a critical asset that has largely been left behind by the mobile revolution: in-store sales associates. The voice-controlled computer allows for real-time communication between employees and enterprise applications without the need to manage hand-held devices that require the associate to break contact with the customer.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized as an IDC Innovator,” said Chris Todd, CEO, Theatro. “Our unique enterprise solution has helped retailers like The Container Store, Neiman Marcus Last Call and Total Wine & More to better serve the needs of employees, managers and customers alike, and we look forward to helping more retailers realize the benefits of hands-free wearable connectivity.”

The report, IDC Innovators: Wearable Software Solutions, 2018 (IDC #US44259618), published in Sept. 2018, profiles four emerging vendors that have developed software solutions for wearable devices in the enterprise.

IDC Innovators reports present a set of vendors – under $100M in revenue at time of selection — chosen by an IDC analyst within a specific market that offer an innovative new technology, a groundbreaking approach to an existing issue, and/or an interesting new business model. It is not an exhaustive evaluation of all companies in a segment or a comparative ranking of the companies. Vendors in the process of being acquired by a larger company may be included in the report provided the acquisition is not finalized at the time of publication of the report.  Vendors funded by venture capital firms may also be included in the report even if the venture capital firm has a financial stake in the vendor’s company.
